The movie starts with Commander Bond (Sean Connery) tracking down and seemingly killing his nemesis Blofeld (Charles Gray). Believing that his mission accomplished Bond returns to England where a puzzle is presented to him, large quantities of diamonds from South Africa have been stolen but have not yet surfaced in the marketplace. Assuming the identity of a diamond smuggler Peter Franks, Bond tries to discover where the diamonds are being held and by whom. At the same time, two hit men, Mr Wint (Bruce Glover) and Mr Kidd (Putter Smith) are working backwards in eliminating everyone in the supply chain, each murder in a uniquely different way. Bond as Peter Franks hooks up with a beautiful smuggler (Jill St. John) and convinces her to work with him when in a struggle he kills the real Peter Franks and switches identities. Leaving Holland with Tiffany they travel to Las Vegas where Bond escapes a murder attempt by the two henchmen. He then discovers that he only killed a double of Blofeld who is now masquerading as Willard Whyte (Jimmy Dean) a recluse and has built a satellite that has destructive laser power using the stolen diamonds to concentrate the beam. Blofeld escapes Bond attempt to kill him once again and holds the world hostage while auctioning off this new weapon to the highest bidder. Bond is able to find the real Willard Whyte and rescues him and discovers Blofeld's lair, an oil platform which controls the killer satellite. Bond infiltrates the base, saves Tiffany and is able to destroy the controls just in the nick of time.
